Centre For Science, Development And Media Studies (Csdms)

Our office is over at A-13 in Nehru Ground, which is right in the heart of N.I.T. Faridabad. Being at the Centre For Science, Development And Media Studies sounds like a lot, but most days it’s just a bunch of us surrounded by stacks of papers and old files. We spend a lot of time reading and looking into different things related to development and media. It’s a bit of a quiet place compared to the main market area, which is nice when you need to concentrate. The building has that older feel to it, not like the new steel towers you see in Gurgaon. We have a lot of books and research materials taking up most of the shelf space. People come in and out, usually looking for some information or to discuss a project. We’ve been in Faridabad for a long time, so we know the local area well. The commute to Nehru Ground is familiar to all of us now. It’s a practical workspace, really. We don’t have any fancy coffee machines, just a kettle and some regular tea bags. Most of the work involves a lot of thinking and writing, so we try to keep the distractions down. It’s an interesting mix of topics we handle, from science to how the media works. We just show up, do the research, and try to make sense of everything from our corner here in Pin 121001. It is steady work that keeps us busy throughout the year.
