Our New Delhi office is located in the Vandana Building at 11-Tolstoy Marg. We are in unit 8A, sharing the space under M/S Hscl. Being on Tolstoy Marg means we are right in the heart of the city, which is great but also very noisy. The building is one of those older high-rises that has seen a lot of history. The elevators are small and sometimes you have to wait a while to get up to the eighth floor. Inside, the office is a mix of old desks and newer computers. It’s often a bit cramped because we have so many files and maps lying around. We don't have a decorator, so the layout is just based on where the plugs are. The view from the window is mostly other buildings and the tops of trees. Most of us spend the day on the phone or looking at screens. It’s not a flashy place with a lounge or a gym. We just have a small area for lunch and a water cooler that everyone gathers around. The air conditioning works most of the time, which is a relief in the Delhi heat. We deal with a lot of paperwork and technical drawings, so the tables are usually buried under piles of paper. It’s a busy, somewhat messy environment where people are always rushing to meet some deadline. We just keep our heads down and get through the list of tasks.
