About Planning Commission – Architect, Interior & Structural Design in New Delhi
We are tucked away in the Voluntary Action Cell here on Parliament Street. Being in the heart of New Delhi means it's always busy around here. The building is old and has that specific smell of paper and ink that you only find in government offices. We spend a lot of time going through documents and talking to different groups who come by. It’s a lot of paperwork, to be honest. Our desks are usually piled high with folders. We try to keep things moving along, but sometimes things take longer than we'd like. The walk to the main gates is quite long, especially when it’s raining. Most of us have been working in this department for a long time. We know the routines and who to talk to for what. It isn't a flashy environment. It’s just stone walls and heavy wooden furniture. We eat our lunch in the canteen or sometimes just at our desks if there is a lot to do. You see a lot of people coming in and out all day long. Each one has a different story or a different request for help. We just do our part to sort through it all. It’s a steady kind of life here. Nothing too exciting happens, but the work feels important in its own quiet way. We make sure the records are filed and the visitors are pointed in the right direction. It's just a basic office where things get done eventually.
