Vidya Niketan is tucked away in D-Block Saket, right on Marg 13. If you know the area, you know how busy the streets can get, especially when school starts and ends. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze with cars parked along the road, but we manage. The building itself has been here for a good while, and it shows its age in some corners, but that’s just how it is. We aren't trying to be the flashiest spot in South Delhi. Most of the kids live nearby, so you see them walking in groups through the block. The guard at the gate knows most of the faces. Inside, the hallways are narrow and can get pretty loud during the breaks. We have some trees in the courtyard that give a bit of shade during the summer, which helps because it gets really hot in Saket. The fans in the rooms hum all day long. Sometimes the power flickers, but we just keep going. It’s a normal place where things happen exactly how you’d expect. No one is wearing fancy suits here; it’s just teachers in their sarees or shirts trying to get through the day’s lessons. We have the usual stacks of notebooks in the office and a notice board that always seems to have one corner peeling off. It feels like home to many of us who have worked in this part of Delhi for years.
