You can find the U S Embassy office at 762, Mukim Pura, in the Subzi Mandi area. It’s a bit of an unusual spot if you aren't familiar with the market, but it’s where we are located. Subzi Mandi is always overflowing with people, vegetables, and noise, which makes for a very lively atmosphere right outside our door. The building at 762 is tucked away in the middle of all that chaos. Inside, we try to maintain some sense of order, though it can be hard when the sounds of the market are so loud. Our workspace is pretty basic, with some sturdy tables and a lot of paper records stacked up in the corners. We don’t have any fancy decorations on the walls, just the necessary maps and notices. Working in Mukim Pura means you have to be okay with a bit of dirt and a lot of movement. We spend our days processing requests and handling various administrative duties that come through this branch. The light in the office comes mostly from a couple of small windows that look out onto the street. It’s a cramped space, especially when we have several people visiting at once, but we’ve learned how to navigate around each other. We don’t have a formal breakroom, so we usually just grab a tea from the vendor nearby and drink it while we work. It’s a very grounded, local experience working here at Subzi Mandi.
