About Simla General Store – Food & Beverages in New Delhi
My store is right in the heart of Sewa Nagar Market, sitting at the spot labeled 0.0416666666666667. It’s a place I’ve spent most of my life in, honestly. We sell just about everything a household might need, from soap to pulses and spices. The shelves go all the way up to the ceiling, so I have to use a small ladder sometimes to reach things. It’s a bit of a squeeze when more than two customers are inside at the same time. The market outside is always full of energy, with people shouting and bikes zooming past. I keep a small radio on most of the day to listen to the news while I work. The floor is concrete and a bit worn down from years of heavy bags being dragged across it. I don't really have a computer system; I still write everything down in a notebook when I have the time. It’s a simple way of doing things, but it works for me. We get a lot of people from the railway colony nearby. They’ve been coming to me for years, and I know exactly what they like to buy. Sometimes I forget to restock a certain type of tea, and they have to wait until the next day. It’s a very local vibe. We don't have any bright neon signs. Just a simple board with the name on it. It’s a bit dusty, but that’s the market life for you. Just a plain shop for plain needs and regular local people who live around here.
