Shri L G Textile

If you wander into Tughlakabad Village and find your way to Sardar Mohalla, you’ll come across Gupta House. That’s where we run Shri L G Textile. It’s House Number 8 A, right near the Gurudwara. The streets are pretty narrow around here, so it’s always a bit of a squeeze when a shipment of cloth arrives. We deal in all sorts of textiles, mostly cotton and blends that people use for local tailoring. The rooms are stacked high with rolls of fabric, and sometimes it’s hard to find a place to sit down. It’s a very local business. We know most of our customers by their first names because they’ve been buying from us for years. We don’t have a showroom with mannequins or bright lights. It’s just us and the cloth. My brother and I manage the stock, and we spend a lot of time measuring out fabric for customers who drop in. The lighting isn’t the best, and the floors are a bit worn out from all the foot traffic. We don’t go in for big sales pitches. If someone likes a fabric, they buy it. We’ve been here in this village for a long time, and we’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit, but our shop stays pretty much the same. It’s a bit cluttered and sometimes a little disorganized, but we always know where the best silk or cotton is hidden in the back.
