You can find Np Gems Ecommerce (Opc) Private Limited over at A-49 in Baba Farid Puri, which is part of West Patel Nagar. Even though the name says ecommerce, we still have this physical spot where we do all the actual work every day. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze in here with all the gems, the computer, and the packaging materials piled up. Patel Nagar is a lively place, there’s always someone shouting outside or a bike zooming past the window. We spend a lot of time on the computer, but the real work is looking at the stones and making sure they look like the pictures we take for the site. Taking photos of gems is harder than it looks because the light never seems to be right and the shadows get in the way. We’ve got a few lamps set up, but someone always knocks them over when they walk past. Our office is just a room really, with a couple of tables and a lot of small plastic bags for sorting the stones. We try to keep the place tidy, but when you’re busy with orders, things just end up on the floor. The 110008 area is quite busy, so there’s always a bit of dust coming in through the door. We don't have a big team, just a few of us trying to get the orders out on time. It’s a lot of repetitive work, but it’s what we do.
