Dealing with potatoes sounds simple until you have to move hundreds of bags every week. That is what we do here at MS Shiv Aloo Co in Laxmi Nagar, Sector 22. My family has been doing this for a long time. We mostly handle wholesale stuff, but people from around the neighborhood stop by too. The shop is located at number 26, and it’s usually covered in a bit of dust from the sacks. We spend a lot of time checking the quality because nobody wants a rotten potato at the bottom of their bag. It is heavy work, lifting and loading trucks early in the morning. Sometimes the market prices change fast and we have to keep up with that. It’s not a glamorous job. Your hands get dirty and your back gets tired by the end of the shift. We stay open late most days because that’s when the smaller vendors come to pick up their stock for the next morning. It is a bit noisy around here with all the crates moving, but that is just part of the business. We don't really have a fancy office or anything like that. Just a desk, some scales, and lots of potatoes stacked up to the ceiling. If you are looking for us, we are right there in Sector 22, easy to find if you know the area.
