More General Store

More General Store is right on the main road in Sagarpur, specifically at Durga Park 7. It’s a typical local shop where we sell a bit of everything. We have sacks of rice and lentils sitting on the floor and shelves packed with biscuits, soaps, and spices. I usually open up the shop early in the morning before the sun gets too hot. The first customers are usually looking for milk or bread for their breakfast. It’s a small space, so things are piled up pretty high. You have to know exactly where the matchboxes or the particular brand of tea is, or you’ll be searching for ten minutes. We know most of the people who live around Durga Park by name. The kids come in after school for candies or small toys, and the older folks come by to chat while they pick up their daily groceries. It gets a bit dusty being so close to the main road, so we spend a lot of time wiping down the jars and containers. We don't have any computers here; everything is calculated on a small keypad or just in our heads. We stay open late into the evening because there’s always someone who forgot to buy salt or oil for dinner. It’s a steady kind of work, nothing too exciting, but it keeps us connected to the neighborhood. We just try to keep the shelves full and the shop running smoothly every day, even when things get a little chaotic.
