Our little shop is tucked away in the DDA Flats over by Turkman Gate. If you know the area near Asaf Ali Road, you probably know how crowded it gets with all the rickshaws and people moving about. We are at No. A-4, and it’s a modest space where we keep all our supplies piled up. There are boxes of wires, switches, and different types of bulbs everywhere you look. Sometimes it’s hard to find a specific part right away because we have so much stuff crammed into the shelves. My hands are usually a bit dusty from handling all the electrical gear. We spend most of our time talking to people who come in because their lights flickered out or they need a specific fuse that they can’t find anywhere else. The shop doesn’t look like much from the outside, just a regular place in the flats, but we’ve got what people need for their homes. It’s a lot of manual work, checking things and making sure we have enough stock. The neighbors often stop by just to say hello or ask a quick question about a wire. It’s not a quiet job, especially with the noise from the main road nearby, but it’s what we do. We open up early and stay until the sun goes down, just trying to help the local folks keep their power running without too much trouble. It’s just us here, working through the inventory every single day until it is time to go.
