Meitei Heritage Welfare Foundation

Our office is tucked away on the first floor of House 602, over in D-19, Ward Number 3. If you know Mehrauli at all, you know how these streets can be, but we like being right here in South West Delhi. Meitei Heritage Welfare Foundation is run by a small group of us who care about where we come from. We spend most of our time just managing the daily tasks that come with running a foundation in a busy city like New Delhi. It is not always easy to keep everything organized, and the office gets a bit cramped when everyone is in at the same time. We have stacks of papers and old books lying around because we are always looking into things related to our history. It is practical work, nothing too glamorous. We don't spend money on fancy furniture or big signs. Most of the people who come to see us are from the community and they already know the way to the door. We drink a lot of tea and talk about what needs to be done next. Sometimes the power goes out or the internet is slow, but we just keep at it. It’s a local effort, and we do what we can with the space we have. Being in 110030 keeps us close to the people we are trying to help, which is the whole point really. We just take things one day at a time.
