Mahajan Beauty House

If you go to Shanker Market in Connaught Place, you’ll find us at Shop No 71. Shanker Market has a very specific feel to it, being one of those older parts of Delhi. Our place, Mahajan Beauty House, has been here for years, and it’s packed with boxes of all kinds of beauty stuff. It’s a small shop, so you have to be careful not to knock anything over when you’re walking around. We have stuff piled up on the counters and tucked into every drawer we can find. It’s usually a bit of a mess, if I’m being honest, but there is a system to it that only we really understand. People come from all over for specific items they can’t find in the newer malls. We spend a lot of time unpacking new shipments and checking labels under the old tube lights. The ceiling fan wobbles a little when it’s on high, but it keeps the air moving. In the afternoons, when CP gets really hot, the shop is a nice little escape from the sun. We don't do any big advertising or anything like that. People just know we are here in the market. It’s a lot of standing and talking to customers who are looking for a very particular shade or brand. It’s just what we do, day in and day out. It’s been this way for as long as I can remember.
