Living With Elan

Hauz Khas Village is a strange and beautiful place. Our shop, Living With Elan, is located at No.1, right near the Naivedyam Restaurant. If you have ever been to the village, you know how the lanes are narrow and winding. It feels almost like a different city inside the walls. We are tucked away in a corner where the light hits the entrance just right in the mornings. The space inside is cozy, maybe even a bit cramped when we get a new shipment in. We spend a lot of time unboxing things and trying to find a place for everything on the shelves. It’s not a big corporate showroom; it’s more like a workshop that happens to sell things. You can often hear the chatter from the diners at Naivedyam nearby. The smell of South Indian food usually drifts over around lunchtime. We don’t have a big staff, just a few of us who handle everything from cleaning the floors to talking to the people who wander in. Most visitors are just walking around the lake or looking at the ruins and happen to stumble upon us. We like the quiet moments in the afternoon when the village slows down for a bit. The walls are a bit uneven and the floor has some cracks, but that is part of the charm of being in an old area like Hauz Khas. We just enjoy being part of this little community.
