Wonder Designers

Lajpat Nagar is always a whirlwind of activity, and Wonder Designers is right in the thick of it at C- 22. We’ve been working from this spot for a while now. The market nearby is famous for its energy, and that definitely rubs off on us. Our space is usually covered in scraps of fabric, thread, and sketches. It’s a creative mess, really. We don’t have a sleek showroom. Instead, we have tables piled high with different materials. Most days involve a lot of measuring, cutting, and talking to tailors. We drink a lot of chai to keep going during the busy seasons. Sometimes a design doesn't turn out quite right the first time, so we have to unpick the stitches and start over. That’s just part of the process. We don't spend money on big ads or marketing. People see what we make and they come back or tell their friends. It’s a very personal way of doing business. We know the names of the delivery guys and the people in the shops next door. The building is older, so the stairs creak a bit, but it has character. We enjoy the challenge of taking an idea and turning it into something real. It’s hard work and the hours can be long, but being in Lajpat Nagar keeps things interesting. We just focus on the next project and try to do a decent job for whoever walks through the door at C- 22.
