We are over in Chabi Ganj, right in the thick of Kashmere Gate. If you know Delhi, you know how crowded it gets here. Our place is at G-54 in Vardan House. It’s not the easiest place to find if you’re new to the area, but the regulars know us. We spend a lot of time moving boxes and checking lists. Trading is mostly just about keeping track of what’s coming in and what’s going out. Some days the traffic outside is so bad you can’t even hear yourself think. We’ve been at this for a while now. The office isn't much to look at, just desks and stacks of paperwork. We drink a lot of tea to keep going through the afternoon. It gets quite hot in the summer, but we have a couple of fans that do the job. Dealing with vendors and customers takes up the whole day. Sometimes things get delayed and we have to explain it to people. It’s just the way things go in this part of town. We don't use fancy computers for everything, a lot is still written down. Being near the gate means things are always moving. It’s a bit of a maze inside Vardan House, but we like it here. It’s a practical business. We just try to get the orders right and keep things moving along without too much trouble. The neighborhood is always changing, but our corner stays the same. We focus on the trade and making sure everything is packed correctly.
