About Jawaharlal Nehru University – Education in New Delhi
If you walk into the Administrative Block at JNU, you’ll find us in the Estate Branch section. It’s a busy place, mostly because there is always something to deal with when it comes to the university grounds. We handle a lot of the paperwork for the buildings and the land around here. Most days, the desks are piled with files and folders that have been around for years. The building itself has that old government office feel, with high ceilings and heavy wooden doors that sometimes creak. You can hear the students talking outside in the corridors or the sound of the peacocks from the woods nearby. It’s not a quiet office by any means. People are always coming in to ask about room allotments or maintenance issues on the campus. We spend a lot of time looking at maps and checking records. The tea man comes around twice a day, and that’s usually when we take a breather. The computers are a bit slow, but we get the work done eventually. It’s a lot of coordination between different departments. Sometimes the internet goes out because of the trees or the weather, and then we just wait it out. It’s a big campus to look after, so there is never a day where nothing is happening. We just keep track of the space everyone uses and try to make sure the records stay organized despite the constant flow of people who come through the door.
