Our office is basically inside one of these flats, so it feels more like a home than a school sometimes. 110017 is the zip code if you’re looking it up on a map. Finding parking is a real struggle around here, so most of us suggest taking the metro. Inside, the rooms are filled with desks and stacks of folders. It’s a bit of a maze with all the files we have to keep. We handle a lot of the administrative side of things from here. It gets a bit noisy when the neighbors are out or when someone is moving furniture upstairs, but we just keep working through it. The kitchen in the flat is where most of the actual talking happens over quick cups of tea. It’s not a shiny glass building with a receptionist. Usually, you just walk in and someone will look up from their computer to help you. It’s a very local, hands-on way of running things. We stay late quite often during the busy months, and the streetlights outside don’t always work, but it’s a safe enough spot. We’re just a bunch of people trying to keep the management side of the institute running smoothly.
