J Umashankar & Co

Our office is in the Surekha Building, right on the second floor. It’s at F 7/19 in Krishna Nagar. If you’ve ever walked through this part of the city, you know it’s mostly residential and small shops. J Umashankar & Co is just a small team of us working in a couple of rooms. The building is a bit dated, and the lift doesn't always work, so we end up taking the stairs quite a bit. It’s good for the legs, I guess. We’ve got piles of files everywhere because that’s just the nature of what we do. It’s not a place meant for showing off to visitors. We just sit at our desks and get through the pile of work. Most of the people around here know us by now. We’ve been in Krishna Nagar for quite a while. There’s a tea stall just down the road where we usually go when we need a break from the screens. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but nobody really has the time to worry about that right now. We just focus on the accounts and the tasks at hand. It’s practical work. We aren't trying to be anything we’re not. It’s just a regular office where we put in our hours every day. Sometimes we stay late when things get busy, but mostly we stick to a normal routine. It’s just how we operate.
