Our place is located in Shahdara, specifically at 1/4958, Street No 5 in Balbir Nagar Extension. It’s a bit of a maze getting back here if you aren't local. The street is narrow, so if a truck is unloading pipes, nobody else can get through for a while. We deal with water systems and heavy-duty pumps. The workshop is full of blue and green metal housings and coils of black tubing. It’s a practical space. We don't have fancy chairs or a lobby. Most of the time we are out on a site or looking at a broken motor on the floor. It gets pretty loud when we test the pumps. There is always a puddle of water somewhere on the ground, so we wear thick rubber boots. We’ve been here in Shahdara for a long time and we know how the local water pressure issues affect the equipment. Customers call us when their buildings have no water, and we try to get out there as soon as the scooter is free. It’s not a glamorous job, and our clothes are usually stained with grease and rust. We have a small desk where we keep the invoices, but it’s mostly covered in old gaskets and tool kits. We just do the work that needs doing and try to keep the machines running for everyone in the area.
