Higher Secondary School Lapta

You can find us at 53, Mall Rd, right in the middle of Kingsway Camp. It is a historic part of Delhi, and being near the university area means there is always a lot of movement. Higher Secondary School Lapta is situated in an old building that has a lot of character, though it also has the typical problems of old buildings like leaky taps and heavy doors. Mall Road is usually packed with buses and rickshaws, so the sound of horns is something we’ve just grown used to over the years. We don't have any big flashy signs. The number 53 is painted on the gate, and that’s about it. Inside, the rooms are high-ceilinged and stay somewhat cool even when the Delhi sun is beating down on the pavement outside. We have a small staff room where we sit and check papers while drinking tea from the place across the street. It’s a simple setup. We don't use any complicated systems; we just use our registers and keep track of the students the old-fashioned way. Kingsway Camp has a certain vibe to it, very busy and academic, and we feel like a small part of that. The students come from all over the surrounding blocks. Some days are more chaotic than others, especially when there is a local festival or a parade nearby. We just keep the gates open and do our work.
