Maya Toys

Being in Aurobindo Place Market means there is never a quiet moment. At Maya Toys, we are basically surrounded by boxes from floor to ceiling. Our address is 16 Aurobindo Place Market, right in the middle of the Hauz Khas area. It is a busy spot. On weekends, it gets really packed with families and kids running around. We spend a good chunk of our day just putting things back on the shelves because people pick them up and drop them anywhere. The light in the shop is a bit dim in the back corner, so we have to use a torch sometimes to find the smaller items. It is a lot of plastic and cardboard and the occasional sound of a battery-operated car going off by itself. We do not really do much fancy stuff here. We just open the shutters, sweep the floor, and wait for the afternoon rush. Sometimes we have tea with the guy who sells snacks outside. It is a small shop, but it is full of stuff. We have to be careful when moving around so we do not knock over a stack of board games. The rent in Hauz Khas is something else, but we have been at this location long enough that it feels like home now. We just try to keep things organized enough so people can find what they want without getting a headache. It is just a toy shop, after all.
