Gyandeep General Store

Down here in Mohammadpur, Gyandeep General Store is where people stop by when they realize they ran out of milk or lentils. We open up early because the morning rush for bread and eggs is always the busiest part of the day. The shop is packed from floor to ceiling with bags of rice, snacks, and soap. It’s not the most organized place in the world, but we generally know where everything is hidden. If we don’t have it, we can usually get it by the next day. We spend a lot of time talking to the neighbors from the nearby flats about the prices of vegetables or how the weather is changing. It’s more than just selling things; it’s being part of the village life here. We don't have a website or a fancy computer system for billing. We just use a notebook and a pen most of the time. It’s faster that way for us. Sometimes the kids come in after school for sweets, and the shop gets noisy for a bit. It’s a small life, but it’s a good one. We’ve been serving the people in Mohammadpur for a long time and we plan to stay right here. It gets a bit cramped when the delivery guys bring in new stock, but we manage to squeeze it all in somehow. Just a simple store for simple needs, nothing more and nothing less.
