Guru Nanak Higher Secondary School

Being in Lajpat Nagar means there is never a quiet moment. Guru Nanak Higher Secondary School is at C 32, right in the heart of this part of Delhi. If you know Delhi, you know how busy the 110024 area is. We have the market nearby, and the streets are always full of people, rickshaws, and cars. The school building is an old one, with those thick walls and high ceilings that you find in this part of town. Every morning, the sound of the bell marks the start of another day. We have students who have grown up in these very streets. It is a higher secondary school, so we deal with the older kids who are mostly worried about their board exams and what comes next for them. The staff room is usually a bit messy with piles of papers and half-finished tea cups, which is how we like it. We aren't trying to be a five-star institution. We just provide a place for kids to study. The playground isn't huge, but it is enough for a game of catch or just hanging out during the break. You can hear the traffic from the main road if you listen closely, but we have all gotten used to it. It is just a normal school in a very busy Delhi neighborhood. We do our work, the kids do theirs, and we all head home when the sun starts to go down in the evening.
