Ganga Institute Of Science Commerce

Ganga Institute Of Science Commerce is situated in Najafgarh. This area is on the outskirts, so it has a bit of a different feel compared to the center of Delhi. We spend our days with students who are trying to figure out their science experiments or balance their commerce ledgers. The classrooms are pretty basic with whiteboards and rows of desks. In the winter, Najafgarh gets quite cold, so everyone comes in wrapped in heavy sweaters. In the summer, it’s the opposite, and we are all hovering near the fans. You can hear the noise of the local markets and the traffic from the main road nearby. The students come from all the surrounding villages and neighborhoods. We have a small lab for the science subjects where things can get a bit messy with the chemicals and the glass jars. The commerce side is quieter, mostly just the sound of calculators and pens. We don't have a huge campus with a stadium; it’s just a building where the learning happens. Most of us who work here have been teaching for a long time and we know the families of the kids who attend. It’s a practical place. We focus on the books and the exams that come up every year. People just walk in to the front office to ask about admissions or to pay the fees. It’s a busy, normal school life.
