Our office is situated in Quarter No 1206 of a multi-storey building in Delhi. Being up in one of these tall blocks means we have a bit of a view, though it’s mostly just other buildings and the busy streets of Delhi 110054 below. The lift in this building is often slow, so we end up waiting a lot or just taking the stairs if we are in a hurry. The office itself feels a bit like a home because it is in a residential-style quarter. We have converted the main rooms into workspace with desks and filing cabinets. It is a bit cramped sometimes when we have a lot of files to organize, but we make it work. The light coming through the windows is good in the morning. We spend a lot of time on the phone or working on the computer. There is a lot of government housing around here, so the atmosphere is quite specific to this part of North Delhi. It’s not the kind of place where you’ll find glass partitions or modern art. It’s just a place where work happens. We keep a kettle in the corner for making coffee and tea throughout the day. People who come to visit us usually know the building well. We just stay focused on our tasks and try to keep things moving along without too much fuss.
