B. R. Printshop

We are located down in the basement at 8A/75 in Karol Bagh. It’s a bit cool down here even when the Delhi sun is beating down on the street. Being behind the telephone extension means it’s relatively quiet, which is nice when the machines are running loud. We deal with printing. The smell of ink is pretty much stuck in our clothes by now. Most of our day is spent making sure the paper doesn't jam and the colors look okay enough. It’s a messy job. There are scraps of paper everywhere on the floor. We try to sweep up at night but by noon the next day it’s the same thing again. We’ve been in this WEA area for a while. Knowing the shortcuts helps us avoid the main road traffic. Our desks stay cluttered with samples and old pens. It’s not the kind of place where you’d find a receptionist in a fancy chair. Usually, you just walk in and see one of us leaning over a machine or checking a proof. We don’t really do big meetings. We just talk across the room. Sometimes the basement gets a little damp when it rains heavy, but we have some wooden pallets to keep the stock dry. It’s a practical way of living. We just keep the presses going and try to make sure everyone gets their stuff on time. It is what it is.
