About Anjuman-E-Khattatan-E-Hind Foundation – Charity & Non Profit Organisations in New Delhi
We’ve been here at Rashid Market for a while now, just tucked away in New Ganesh Park. If you know the area, you know it’s busy. We’re mostly about keeping the art of calligraphy alive here in Delhi. It’s not fancy work, but it takes a lot of patience. People come in to see how the pens are held and how the ink flows on paper. Sometimes it gets a bit noisy outside with the market sounds, but we just keep at it inside our small space at 34 A. It isn’t a big corporate office or anything like that. Just a few rooms where we spend our days working on different scripts. Most of us grew up around here, so we like being part of the neighborhood. We don’t really do big advertisements or anything. Most people find us by walking past or hearing about it from someone else in the market. It’s a quiet sort of life, focusing on the letters and the way they look. There is a lot of history in what we do, but we try to keep it practical for today. We have our desks set up and we just spend the hours practicing. Sometimes the tea runs out and someone has to run down to the corner, but that’s just how it is. We are happy to be part of the Delhi scene here. It feels right to be in this specific spot.
