Anand General Stores

Anand General Stores is located at 63-A in Khan Market. It is a small spot in a very busy part of the city. We have been working out of this space for quite a long time now. The shelves go all the way up to the ceiling because there is not much room on the floor. We keep things like matches, cigarettes, batteries, and different types of bottled drinks. Usually, the morning starts with checking what sold the day before and making a list for the suppliers. Khan Market is always changing but our shop stays pretty much the same. The paint on the walls is a bit faded and the wooden counter has some scratches from years of use. It gets very crowded in the evenings when people are finished with their work and want to pick up things on their way home. I usually sit on a small plastic chair near the entrance. We don't have any big advertisements or anything like that. People just know we are here. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to use a small rechargeable lamp to see the labels on the jars. It’s a lot of hours standing on your feet, but you get to meet a lot of different people every single day. We just focus on keeping the basic things that everyone needs. Most of our day is spent restocking the shelves or talking to the delivery boys who come in and out.
