Alasa Social Welfare Foundation

Our place is located over in Naveen Shahdara, specifically at N-79-A on the first floor in Gali number 5. If you know East Delhi, you know it's a tight-knit area. Alasa Social Welfare Foundation is just a small setup we put together to help out. We aren't doing anything world-changing, just trying to be useful where we can. The office is tucked away in a residential street, so it's usually quiet except for the local kids playing outside. We spend a lot of our time just sitting around the table, planning out what needs to happen next. It’s not a corporate environment by any means. There’s usually some tea going and someone’s always coming in with a question. We don’t have a big staff, just a few of us who care about what happens in our backyard. Sometimes we struggle with the filing or keeping the schedule straight, but the work gets done. It’s important to us to stay local and stay reachable. People in Shahdara know the lanes well, so they find us easily enough. We chose this spot because it's where we live and work anyway. Nothing fancy, just some desks and chairs and a lot of conversation about how to make things a bit better for the folks living around here. It’s practical work for practical people. We just take it one day at a time and see where we can be of use to the neighbors.
