Akums Foundation

Akums Foundation is located at Unit Number 101 on the first floor of Mohan Place. That’s in the LSC of Block C, Saraswati Vihar, over in North West Delhi. We’ve been in this building for a while now. It’s a standard office space, nothing too exciting to look at. We aren't here to make a profit or anything; we just wanted to set up a place where we could help people out with their daily struggles. We do a lot of different things, and it changes depending on who walks through the door. Sometimes it's helping with education for a kid, other times it's health stuff for the elderly. We don't have a big staff, so we all end up doing a bit of everything—cleaning the floor, answering the phone, and meeting the people who come in. It’s not a very formal environment at all. We usually have the radio playing and someone is always in the back making a fresh pot of tea. We aren't very good at the corporate side of things, like fancy reports and big presentations. We’d rather just talk to the person in front of us. Saraswati Vihar is a good neighborhood, and we like being part of it. We just do our work quietly and try to be as helpful as we can to anyone who finds their way to our first-floor office. Sometimes we run out of stationary or the printer jams, but we manage somehow.
