Aapni Mati Foundation

We are over here in Hari Nagar, just near the Mother Dairy at A-43 on the northern side of the second floor. It is a busy little area, but we like it. The office is usually a bit messy with papers and tea cups, but that is how we work best I guess. We started Aapni Mati Foundation because we saw things in the neighborhood that needed a hand. It is mostly just a few of us sitting around desks trying to figure out how to help people with their daily problems. Some days are slow, and we just talk about the weather or the traffic on the main road. Other days, the phone does not stop ringing. We do not have a fancy reception or anything, just some chairs and a water cooler that makes a loud noise sometimes. People walk in from the street often, asking for directions or just curious about what we do. We try to explain it simply without using big words. It is just about being here for the community. The northern side of the building gets good light in the mornings, which helps us stay awake. We have been in this spot for a while now and the neighbors know us by name. It is not a big corporate setup, just a small team doing what we can from our little corner in New Delhi. Sometimes the power goes out, but we just keep going. It gets quite hot in the summer months, but we have a couple of fans that do the job well enough.
