Ultraech Cement Ltd.

Up here in Vikram Cement Khor, things are a bit different than in the towns. We are located in the Jawad district. Ultraech Cement Ltd. is part of the local scene around here. It’s a big site with a lot of heavy machinery moving around all the time. The noise is constant, but you get used to it after working here for a week. We are just the regular people working the shifts. It’s not like those fancy offices you see on television with glass walls and carpets. Everything here is practical and meant for hard work. We wear our boots and just get on with the tasks at hand. The sun gets really strong over the Khor during the summer months. We drink a lot of water and try to stay in the shade when we can. The dust is just part of life here. You can see the long lines of trucks from a distance. We spend most of our time checking the loads and making sure things are moving out on schedule. It’s a huge site, so we do a lot of walking every single day. My shoes don’t usually last very long. We talk to the drivers who come from all over the place. They have some interesting stories about the roads. The Jawad area is mostly quiet outside of the work hours. It’s just an honest job for us. We show up and do what needs doing.
