New English U B Vidhyalaya

New English U B Vidhyalaya is located in Chikhli, which is in the Navsari district. It’s a fairly straightforward school building sitting on a quiet street. We don’t have a big sign or anything flashy out front, just the name on the wall. The students come from all over Chikhli and some of the smaller spots nearby. They usually arrive on foot or on bicycles, which we have a small shed for in the corner. The classrooms are standard with white walls that are starting to look a bit grey. We have a small area out front with a few bushes and a bit of dirt where the kids hang out. The staff here is a mix of older teachers who have seen everything and some younger ones just starting out. We spend most of the day following the schedule, moving from one lesson to the next. The bell is just a piece of metal that someone hits with a hammer, and you can hear it clearly across the whole neighborhood. We don’t have a lot of extra equipment, just the basics for teaching. Sometimes we have to fix a leaky pipe or replace a broken window pane, but that’s just part of keeping the place going. It’s a honest, working school where we do our best with what we have for the families in this part of Navsari.
