Damodar D Pareek

Our place is at Plot No 201 /4 in the GIDC Estate. It’s named after Damodar D Pareek, who started the whole thing. We are just a small part of this massive industrial zone. The unit isn't very large, but we make use of every square inch we have. It’s mostly filled with supplies and the equipment we need for our daily tasks. The GIDC is a busy place, so there’s always the sound of trucks and other factories in the background. We don’t really have a lot of visitors, so the place isn't set up for guests. It’s just a workspace. The desk in the corner is usually covered in old ledgers and pens that barely work. We spend a lot of time on our feet, moving between the storage area and the work tables. It’s the kind of business where you know your customers by their first names because they’ve been coming here for a decade. We don’t have any fancy mission statements or corporate values posted on the wall. We just try to get the work done right so we don't have to do it twice. Sometimes the roof leaks a little when it rains really hard, but we just put a bucket under it and keep going. It’s just a normal, everyday business run by people who live nearby and show up every morning to get things done.
