I’ve been at the workshop here in Rabale for a while now. The TTC Industrial Area is always busy, trucks moving in and out, and the sound of machines never really stops during the day. At Kanath Engineering, we mostly deal with metal and parts. It gets pretty hot inside the shop, especially in the afternoons when the sun hits the roof, but we just get on with it. My clothes usually have some oil or grease on them by noon. It's just the way things are when you’re working with heavy gear. Door No-W/342 is where we keep all the tools and the main benches. Sometimes the power fluctuates, which is a bit of a pain, but we manage to keep the lathes and drills going. The tea stall around the corner is where most of us end up for a break. We don’t have any fancy office or anything like that. It is just a floor with machines and people who know how to use them. It's noisy and dusty, but there is a certain rhythm to the work that makes the day go by. We handle a lot of different orders, some big and some small, and it usually involves a lot of measuring and double-checking things. You have to be careful with the specs or everything goes wrong. It’s practical work, nothing more. We just try to finish what’s on the list for the day and go home.
