Being based in Vashi, specifically at Sector-17 in J.K. Chembers, means we are right in the middle of all the action. Most people know this building because it’s a busy hub for all sorts of small offices. We spend most of our time dealing with vegetables and making sure they get to where they need to go. Our mornings start way before the sun is even up, usually around four or five. That is when the crates start arriving and we have to check everything over. It gets quite messy and damp sometimes, especially during the monsoon months when the floors stay wet no matter how much you mop. We have our small space on the fifth floor, room 504, which stays pretty crowded with laptops and phones ringing. It’s not a quiet place at all. We are always talking to vendors or checking lists. Sometimes we forget to eat lunch until it’s nearly evening because things move so fast. The lift in this building is a bit slow, so we end up taking the stairs a lot just to save time. It keeps us moving, I guess. We don’t have any big corporate goals or anything, we just want to make sure the produce is okay and the orders are right. If something goes wrong, we just fix it and move on to the next one. That’s just life at J.K. Chembers for us.
