Sanjay Hair Salons is over in Panchavati. We’re near the Goda, so it’s a very busy part of Nashik. You can always hear the sounds of the river and the people going down to the ghats. Our shop is old, and it looks it. We haven't changed much in a long time. The chairs are the heavy kind that don't move much. We have a lot of regular customers who have been coming to Sanjay for years. They don't even have to tell us what they want anymore. We just know. Sometimes we get travelers who are visiting the temples and need a quick shave. It’s a dusty area, so we’re always wiping down the counters. The mirrors are large and they reflect the street outside. I like to watch the world go by from here. We have a small radio that usually plays religious songs or the local news. It’s not a quiet place, but it’s a good place. We don't have any fancy signs or lights. Just the name and the work we do. We open early because that’s when the people are out by the river. By the time the sun is high, we’ve already seen a dozen people. We don't ask for much, just a bit of respect and a fair price. That’s how we’ve stayed in business all this time in Panchavati. Sanjay Hair Salons isn't going anywhere as long as people need a trim. We just keep the scissors moving and the floor swept.
