Sammer Paan Shop

If you are around Amardham Road or Wadala Road in Nashik, you might see Sammer Paan Shop near the Paapu Electronics store. It’s a small place, as most paan shops are, but we stay busy. We specialize in different kinds of paan, but we also sell a lot of other small things like cigarettes, matches, chocolates, and cold drinks. People usually stop their bikes or cars right outside to grab something quickly before moving on. In the evenings, it becomes a bit of a gathering spot where people stand around and talk for a few minutes after their work day. The location in Hari Nagari is quite good because there is always someone passing by. We have to be very fast with our hands, especially when making the sweet paans during the wedding season or local festivals. The smell of betel leaves and tobacco is always around the counter. We don't have any sitting area, it’s just a counter where everything happens. I’ve learned to recognize the sound of certain regular customers' bikes before they even pull up to the shop. Managing the change is probably the biggest chore because everyone seems to have big notes for small purchases. We don’t really have a grand plan for the future. We just try to keep the leaves fresh and the soda cold. It’s a simple trade, and being near the electronics shop helps because their customers often wander over to us while they wait for repairs.
