Sai Raj Hair Cutting Saloon

This saloon is sitting at Shop Number 1 near Khanderao Chowk in Wadala Gaon. We are quite close to the Khandoba Mandir. A lot of people stop by after they visit the temple. It’s a typical mens hair cutting shop in the Indira Nagar area of Nashik. I’ve been cutting hair for a long time. I took over this shop a few years ago. We have the traditional barber chairs that spin around. There are big mirrors on the wall. The floor is usually covered in hair clippings. We stay busy from morning until night. I have a radio that plays old songs throughout the day. It keeps things from being too quiet. Some of the guys come in just to sit and talk for a bit. They might not even need a haircut. We do shaves with straight razors and simple haircuts for kids and men. The shop is small. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint. That doesn't stop people from coming in though. Being near the Chowk means there is always something happening outside. Sometimes the kids play cricket in the street. I have to watch out for the ball hitting the front of the shop. It’s a good community here in Wadala Gaon. Everyone knows each other. I just keep the scissors moving and try to make sure everyone leaves looking a bit better than they did. It's a decent way to spend the day.
