New Maharashtra Saloon is located right under the Nashik Ashtam Lodge. We are on MG Road in Nashik, specifically at Dumal Point. The zip code is 422001. Being under a lodge means we are a bit below the street level, which makes the shop feel a bit different. MG Road is one of the oldest and busiest roads in the city. There is history all around us. You can hear the feet on the pavement above and the honking of the cars at Dumal Point. It is a small space but we have packed in the essentials. We have the old-style chairs and the wooden cabinets for our stuff. The walls are painted a simple color. We don't have fancy air conditioning, just the fans spinning overhead. A lot of the people staying at the lodge come down for a shave or a haircut. We also have regulars who have been coming to this road for years. It is a very traditional setup. We use the same kind of combs and razors that have been used for a long time. The light comes in from the entrance stairs. It is a busy, hardworking atmosphere. We open up early and the day goes by fast because there is always someone coming in. You can feel the vibration of the city from our spot under the building. We just keep our heads down and get the cutting done for whoever sits in the chair.
