New Adarsh Salon

Operating out of the Purubai Rajendra Complex on the Nashik Pune Highway is always loud. There’s always a truck or a car passing by, heading towards the city or out to Pune. We are right near the Shivaji Maharaj statue, so it’s easy for people to find the building. The shop is unit number six. It’s a bit of a concrete box, but it stays cool enough in the shade of the complex. I’ve got three chairs set up, though usually only two are working at a time. The floor is tiled and I try to keep it white, but with the dust from the highway, it’s a constant battle with the broom. I see a lot of travelers who just need a quick beard trim before they continue their journey. Then there are the local shopkeepers from the same building who come in during their lunch breaks. We have a big mirror that covers most of the wall which makes the place look bigger than it actually is. The spray bottle I use has a bit of a leak, so my hand gets wet every time I use it. I should probably get a new one, but I’ve had this one for years. We don't have a lot of fancy decorations, just some old posters of different hair cuts that nobody really asks for anymore. It is just a regular place for a regular cut in Nashik and we like it that way.
