Nandu Hair Cutting Salon

If you live near Jail Road on Nashik Road, you might know Devidarshan Apartment. I am in Shop No.12 there. My name is Nandu and this is my hair cutting salon. It’s right near the Power House, which is a big landmark around here. I’ve been in this shop for several years now. It’s a small space, but it’s enough for me. I have three chairs, but usually, it’s just me and one helper. We get a lot of people who work nearby or live in the apartments upstairs. The morning starts with a cup of tea and then I open the shutters. I like the sound of the scissors. It’s a rhythm I’ve gotten used to. The shop isn't decorated with anything special. Just some old tiles and a few shelves for the talcum powder and creams. We have a lot of school kids coming in, especially on Sundays before school starts again on Monday. They can be a bit restless in the chair, but we handle it. Sometimes the neighbors drop in just to say hello even if they don't need a haircut. Nashik is a nice place to have a business like this. It’s not too fast, and people take the time to talk. I don't have a big advertising budget. Word of mouth is how most people find out about us. It’s a simple life in a simple shop and we like it.
