We set up our shop in Vani, right across from the police station, which is a pretty easy landmark for anyone living around here in Taluka Dindori. It is a small place and we have kept it that way for a long time. Usually, things start slow in the morning, but once the sun gets higher, more people start showing up. Most of the people who come in are locals who have been living in this part of Nashik for most of their lives. We have the usual barber chairs and a few mirrors that have seen a lot of use over the years. The floor gets covered in hair pretty fast, so we spend a lot of time with the broom in our hands. You can hear the police sirens or just the regular traffic from the road while we work. It is not a very quiet spot, but that is just how it is in this part of town. We don’t have any big signs or fancy lights inside. Just the basic tools like scissors, clippers, and a bit of water in a spray bottle. People stop by for a quick haircut or a shave before they head home in the evenings. Sometimes we just sit outside when there are no customers, watching the people go by toward the station. It is a steady life and we know most of the families around Vani pretty well by now.
