Gurukrupa Hair Salon

This shop is in the Mini Market area of Cidco in Nashik. We’re right on Ambad Police Station Road. You can’t miss us because the police station is right there nearby. Gurukrupa Hair Salon is a small place, really. We’ve got some posters on the wall that have been there for years. The ceiling fan wobbles a little on high speed but it keeps us cool enough. We get a lot of officers coming in to get cleaned up before their shifts. They’re usually in a hurry. Then we have the locals who live in the Cidco flats. They like to linger and talk. We have a small bench outside where people sit if the two chairs inside are full. The floor is a bit worn down in the spots where I stand all day. That’s okay, it shows we’ve been working. I started this place because I wanted to be my own boss. It’s a lot of standing and my back aches sometimes, but I like the people. We don't do anything fancy, just standard cuts and shaves. No appointment needed, people just show up. Sometimes we run out of clean towels and have to wait for the dryer, but we manage. It’s a neighborhood shop. We know the names of the dogs that run around the Mini Market. It’s just home for us here at the shop. We keep a small notebook for the regular customers who pay at the end of the month. It’s all based on trust around here. The shop front is small, but we have enough space to move around.
