My salon is located in Sinnar, out in Nashik, specifically over in Ganesh Nagar near Shivaji Chowk. It’s a good spot because everyone passes through the chowk at some point during their day. I opened up here because I liked the energy of the area. The shop is small, with just enough room for the essentials. I have two main chairs and a bench for people to sit on while they wait. The walls are painted a light color to make it feel a bit bigger than it really is. I’ve got a couple of ceiling fans that hum all day long. In Nashik, we get some nice weather, but the afternoons can still get pretty warm inside. I focus on doing a good job with the hair and keeping my workspace tidy. I’ve got a collection of different blades and scissors that I keep in a drawer by the mirror. Most of the people who come in are local residents from Ganesh Nagar. We talk about the local news or just stay quiet if they’re tired. I don't have a big staff, so it's usually just me handling everything from the haircuts to sweeping the floor at closing time. It’s a steady job and I like being my own boss in this little corner of Sinnar. I don't have any big plans to change things; I just want to keep the doors open and the chairs filled when possible.
