You can find Aazadorganic Farmer Producer Company Limited over at Vijay Prabhakar Waykos’s place, House No. 131, in Haste Pimpalgaon. It’s a small-town operation where a group of us decided to focus on organic farming. We don’t have a big corporate office with signs and lights; it’s just a room in Vijay’s house where we keep the company books. Most of us spend our days out in the dirt in Haste Pimpalgaon, so the house is mainly for meetings and figuring out the logistics. We aren't polished business people; we’re just farmers who feel organic is the way to go for our land. It’s harder work because you can't just spray away your problems, but we prefer it this way. The atmosphere at our little home base is pretty relaxed, usually involves a lot of talk about the weather and how the latest crops are looking. We started this because we wanted a fair way to sell what we grow without going through too many middle people. It’s not always easy, and sometimes we wonder if we’re doing it right, but we keep at it. Having a base at House No. 131 makes it easy for the neighbors to stop by and join in or just see what we’re up to. We’re just local people trying to make a living off the land in a way that feels honest to us. That is basically our whole story here.
