Secunderabad Hindi Vidyalya Govt. High School is located at Pokhri, right by the bypass road in Aurangabad. It’s a government school, so things are pretty straightforward and simple here. The building is a bit old and the paint is peeling in some corners, but it serves the kids in the Pokhari area well enough. We have a lot of students who come from families working nearby. The main focus is the Hindi medium classes, and you can hear the teachers reading out loud from the open windows. The bypass road means there’s a lot of truck noise sometimes, but we’ve all gotten used to it over the years. Our playground is just a patch of dirt where the kids play kabaddi or cricket during the lunch break. The staff room has a big old table where we sit and correct papers while drinking tea from the canteen. There isn't any fancy tech here, just blackboards and some old maps on the walls. We spend a lot of time filling out government forms and keeping track of the mid-day meals. It’s a lot of work to keep everything running smoothly on a tight budget. The kids are good though, and they make the place feel alive even when the building looks a bit tired. We open up early and stay until the last student has headed home toward the village or the bypass.
