Venkateswara Rice Mundy

Venkateswara Rice Mundy is located along the Salem Main Road in Kumarapalayam. Specifically, we are at No: 2/1, 502, in the Kumarankuttai Thottam area. It’s a busy stretch of road, especially with all the trucks passing through Namakkal District. Our place is right in the thick of it. We spend most of our time dealing with rice bags, moving them from the trucks to the store and back out again. The noise from the main road is something you just learn to ignore after the first week. It’s a big open space we have here, which is necessary for all the stock. We don't have much in the way of decoration, just some old calendars on the wall and a small desk where we keep the ledger. It’s a practical setup. The dust from the rice is everywhere, so everything has a bit of a grey tint to it. We start early, usually before the traffic gets too heavy on Salem Main Road. It’s a lot of physical labor, and by the end of the day, we are usually pretty tired. We’ve been here long enough that most of the local farmers know where to find us. We don't do any big promotions or anything like that. We just focus on the grain and making sure the counts are right. It’s a straightforward way to make a living, and we’re content with how things are going in our little corner of Kumarapalayam.
