Out on Melsathambur Road in Kandampalayam, you will find Svs Polytechnic College. We are situated in Namakkal, a place known for its transport and poultry, so technical training makes sense for the people living around here. The campus has several blocks dedicated to different trades and engineering subjects. Students come from all over the district, often taking the local buses that drop them off near the gate. Inside, there are workshops where you can hear the sound of machines running during practical hours. It’s not a quiet place, especially when the labs are full. The buildings are plain, painted in standard colors, and have wide corridors to keep things cool in the Tamil Nadu heat. We have a lot of staff who have been here for years, teaching the basics of mechanics and electrical work. Lunchtime is usually loud with students sitting under the trees or in the small canteen area. Sometimes things break and we have to fix them, which is just part of running a technical school. We don't have fancy lounges or anything like that. It’s mostly about getting into the labs and doing the work. The goats from the neighboring fields sometimes wander near the fence, and the air smells like the countryside.
